Plant Medicine Making Workshop

Join us for a hands-on plant medicine making workshop designed to help you feel more confident turning herbs into safe, effective, practical remedies for your home apothecary.

In this class, we’ll walk through the foundations of herbal extraction and discuss how to turn plants into viable medicine using simple, traditional methods. You’ll learn the differences between common solvents, also called menstrua, such as water, alcohol, vinegar, glycerin, and oil, and how each one pulls different properties from the plant.

We’ll cover which herbs extract best in which menstruum, why preparation method matters, and how to choose the right form of medicine for the herb and the person using it.

Together, we’ll discuss:

The basics of safe and effective herbal medicine making

The difference between infusions, decoctions, tinctures, glycerites, vinegars, and infused oils

How different solvents extract different plant constituents

Matching herbs with the proper menstruum

Foundational dosing principles and safety considerations

How to label, store, and use your herbal preparations with confidence

This workshop includes a hands-on medicine making portion where each student will create their own herbal extract to take home.

Whether you’re brand new to herbal medicine or ready to deepen your home apothecary skills, this class will give you practical knowledge you can immediately use in your own kitchen.

What’s included:
Instruction, materials, herbs, menstruum, jar/bottle, printed notes, and your own handmade herbal extract to take home.

Come ready to learn, ask questions, and leave with both knowledge and medicine in hand.
